Dubai is a wonderful place for night outs, brunches, some downtime at the beach or even a walk in the park. As such, Dubai has developed living spaces that attract tourists, expats, and local residents alike. Wandering about the boardwalks, corniche and public parks is great for those who track a mile or would just like to clear their mind with a walk.

1. Burj Park

Take in all the beautiful sights Downtown Dubai has to offer. Stand at the foot of the world’s tallest skyscraper while walking past the best retail shops, cafes, and restaurants. The entire scenery of your walk is inundated with loads of restaurants in and out of Dubai Mall, from casual to fine dining. There are dedicated promenades perfect for walking and bridges that connects you from the mainland to the park area, along Burj Lake and the towering Burj Khalifa.

Route: Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa Metro Station, walk along Emaar Square, and end up at the foot of Burj Khalifa. Head towards Palace Downtown Dubai and start walking again towards Dubai Opera.

Pit stop: Watch the Dubai Fountain show at night as a reward after your walk along the Burj Lake or take it further by taking a stroll at Souk Al Bahar. The Dubai Fountain Show runs every half an hour from 6 PM to 11 PM. It is a sight you surely wouldn’t miss!

 

2. Jumeirah Corniche

Looking for a downtime at the beach? Dubai has one of the best beaches in the Gulf region. The long white sandy stretch of Jumeirah Beach is perfect for your morning walk, run or swim. Jumeirah Beach is a 14KM coastline strip stretching from the Burj Al Arab all the way to the Dubai Marina Beach Resort and Spa. The running track along the beach makes it perfect for joggers in their trainers or walk barefoot on the fine white sand beach.

Route: You can take a lovely stroll from the beach along Jumeirah 2 and walk up towards the Burj Khalifa or down to Kite Beach at Jumeirah 3.

Pit stop: Take a chill at FiLLi with their iced chai. This tea shop is located along the beach in Jumeirah 2, so you will not miss this. End your stroll at Kite Beach, which is a popular spot that offers jogging tracks, kid’s play areas or calm your hunger at the Food Trucks.

 

3. West Beach

This newly opened beachfront at the Palm Jumeirah brings a fresh look and vibe to waterfront living in Dubai. Residents in Nakheel’s Palm West Beach are clamoring to explore this recently unveiled promenade bestrewn with tropical bars and intricate restaurants facing the ocean. This beach promenade is seriously serving the best beach vibe experience for your al fresco dining or date nights. The wide stretch of the West Beach shore and boardwalk is perfect for a run, stroll or even a dog walk, as this is a pet-friendly place. You must check it out!

Route: The freshest bars and restaurants are opening here in West Beach. Wander about the boardwalk from A&H to Orange Chameleon which should be a good 2KM walk.

Pit stop: You surely wouldn’t miss out on the hammocks and cabana of this Bali-inspired bar - Koko Bay. Take the best spot and lounge on the beach shacks while watching the sunset with the sights of Dubai Marina and Bluewaters Island.

 

4. The Pointe

Another sub-community of the Palm Jumeirah is an upscale hub of shops, restaurants and entertainment. The Pointe is a wonderful location with a beachside offering a spectacular view of the Atlantis Hotel. This area is perfect for a stroll whether you are out for a shopping or dining experience. The Pointe is also a dog-friendly place so bring your pet out for a walk or swim!

Route: Walk along The Pointe’s beach promenade that is a 1.5KM stretch with wonderful views of the ocean, restaurants, and cafes.

Pit stop: Visit the little beach cove at The Pointe that sits right across the Atlantis Hotel as your view. It is a sight you wouldn’t want to miss.

 

5. Jumeirah Lakes Towers

A stroll in Jumeirah Lakes Towers is a walk worth going. The area is safe and peaceful for both high-rise dwellers and for workers after a day’s worth of work in the office. You can go all out by foot checking out all the clusters, and the views of the lake make your walk more soothing especially at night. The place is dog-friendly too for homeowners who would like to take their pets out for a walk.

Route: Go all out by foot from DMCC Metro Station all the way to Damac. There are loads of restaurants and cafes along the way, boardwalks are flat and benches are spread throughout the area should you need to take a quick break.

Pit stop: JLT is bestrewn with restaurants and cafes from Asian, European and Sub-Asian cuisines. A basketball court across One JLT is open for you to watch a game or play hoops. You can also take a stop at the central park area.

 

6. The Beach, JBR

The Walk at JBR is a vibrant outdoor destination along with the lively beachside and colourful murals that will excite your dining, shopping and leisure experience. JBR makes a great place for long walks with a variety of international restaurants, signature retail shops, and various activities on and off the beach. The area is part of the Jumeirah Beach Residences community where plenty of high-rise residences and hotels are found. Some 35 buildings are residential towers that range from studios to 4-bedroom apartments. Luxury hotel apartments and penthouses are sought-after in this community.

Route: Brisk walk the length of JBR from Jumeirah Beach Residences 1 to Jumeirah Beach Residences 2, without taking the tram. The beachside boasts of a 1.7KM coastline. Take it further by walking all the way to Meraas’ Bluewaters Island.

Pit stop: There will never be a dull moment for those visiting JBR and heaps of places to choose from at JBR. Have your breakfast at iHop or brunch at Eggspectation with a sea view.

 

7. Bluewaters

Bluewaters is a brand new-ish destination that is worth visiting. Home to the massive Ain Dubai, which will be an attraction in the coming Dubai Expo 2020, next year. The wheel is on its final construction finishing up with seating capsules that will definitely give you a bird’s eye view of the Jumeirah Beach and Dubai Marina area. The boardwalk at Bluewaters will lead you to loads of retail shops and dining experiences with a sea view. The viewing platforms are perfect to snap away some photos and watch jet skis, dhow cruises and boats, sail beneath you.

Route: Begin your stroll from The Beach at JBR and follow the boardwalk across Sheraton Dubai Jumeirah Beach. This will lead you to the island and continue marching towards the mighty Ain Dubai.

Pit stop: Marvel at the Ain Dubai that stands at 210 m. surpassing the High Roller in Las Vegas, Singapore Flyer and even the London Eye. Once operational, Ain Dubai will be able to carry up to 1,400 passengers in its 48 cabins and the wheel ride will take about 50 minutes.

 

8. Discovery Gardens

Discovery Gardens is a community that houses nearly 300 low-rise buildings with over 25,000 apartment units. Discovery Gardens is situated right next to Ibn Battuta Mall which is one of the largest malls in Dubai and is designed after the travels of famous Muslim scholar and explorer – Ibn Battuta. Giving ode to the name, Discovery Gardens is a peaceful community with aesthetically pleasing buildings with various design styles while being surrounded with nature with tree-lined streets and bushy foliage. It’s perfect to go for a run daily in the morning or a jog at night.

Route: Begin your starting point at Street 1, there are a lot of small grocery stores, salons, pharmacies and eateries along the way. Keep walking to Street10 and back and you just have completed 10,000 steps on your fitbit.

Pit stop: Take a break at The Pavillion on Street 9. This chic and convenient pit stop is perfect to grab grocery items in Carrefour, sip coffee at Tim Hortons or have dumplings at Super Bowl.
