Deira International School

Deira International School (DIS) first opened in 2005 and is located in the new part of old Dubai – Festival City. The school has since grown to over 1,600 students from over 80 nationalities, although majority of the population are predominantly Arabs, with around 14% of the students are local Emirati. The school is owned and operated by the non-for-profit Al Futtaim Foundation.

 

Curriculum

The school follows an English National Curriculum Model which is adapted for the international nature of the student population. DIS also offers a wide-range of extra-curricular activities for both girls and boys. Art, music, and dance programs are also offered along their academic and non-academic programmes.

 

Admission

To be admitted to the DIS, parents or guardians must fill an enquiry form available online. Once admitted, students will participate in various tests and assessments to determine the best placement.

Students applying for Foundation Stage are offered on application in which students will undergo a play-based assessment. While admissions to Year 1 to 10 are confirmed following the student’s previous school report. Assessment for students from Year 1 to 3 are paper-based and a CAT4 assessment is required from Year 4 to 10.

 

Facilities

DIS occupies an 80,000 sq. m. land area at the heart of Dubai Festival City. Equipped with world-class physical and technological facilities to promote students creative and innovative learning experience.

Some of the key facilities for the children’s physical activities are the indoor DIScovery centre and play zone for Primary students. The Westminster School

Admission

Registration and admission to classes is done online through the school website and based on slot availability. For admission to FS 1, the child must be of maximum 3 years and 11 months while admission to FS 2 must be of maximum 4 years 11 months old.

From Year 1 to 11, admission for students will require an interview with a member of the Senior Leadership Team or Head of Key Stage.

Below is a list of documents required once admission is confirmed:

  • Two copies of the student's passport with a valid U.A.E. residence visa.
  • Two copies of the student’s birth certificate (in Arabic or English).
  • Two copies of the student’s Emirates ID Card (both sides).
  • Two copies each of (father and mother) Emirates ID Card (both sides).
  • Two copies of the parent's passport with a valid residence visa
  • For students coming from other Emirates and Oversees transfer: Original Emirates ID Card for any one of the parents and the student for scanning on the Emirates ID card reader. The Emirates ID cards will be returned to the parent immediately after the scanning is completed in the registration department.
  • Three recent passport size photographs on white background.
  • Two copies of the current immunization record in English.
  • Two copies of the school final report for all children entering Year 1 and above (in English).
  • Original School Leaving Certificate from the previous school:

In the case of transfer from Dubai Schools, please provide the School Leaving Certificate.

In the case of transfer from other Emirates other than Dubai, the School Leaving Certificate should be duly attested by the Educational authority of the respective Emirate.

In the case of Overseas transfer, from countries other than USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Europe and New Zealand, the Transfer Certificate should be duly attested by: District Educational Officer/Ministry of Education (from the country migrating from), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from the country migrating from) and UAE Embassy/ Consulate (from the country migrating from).

 

Facilities

The Westminster Campus and its facilities are thoughtfully designed to provide the students with a vibrant learning experience. The school comprises of 180 classrooms along with academic and extra-curricular facilities to deliver high-quality education.

Al Maaref American Private School

Al Maaref Private School (AMPS) is a long-established, US-curriculum school located in the school zone of Al Qusais, Dubai neighbouring other private schools, close to Dubai International Airport and bordering Sharjah. Additional documentation for students transferring from schools outside of the UAE would require transcripts to be attested by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
