Are you bored of your bedroom with the plain old white sheets and curtains? Are you worried that bold statements in interiors can become a fashion faux pas? You can actually relax now. As the cold countries are heading towards autumn, the trends are changing to bright and colorful or dark and bold shades.

You must be nodding your head to say, it’s not for a Dubai house. If it’s luxury, then it should be suede and leather. If it’s seaside, then it must be cool colors such as teal, blue, green and white.  Well, the colors can stay but you can go on trend with the prints. Bold is beautiful, right?

Sofa with floral print

Keep the traditional sofa but change the upholstery to colorful orchids or hibiscus prints with a bright background.  See your guests’ heads turn before being settling down on the seating.  Get your bedroom sheets changed to satin with attractive prints of red roses on a dark background. The rich look is hard to miss when one hits the bed. Need some extra cushions? Get them in a combination of neutrals and bright colors – botanical design preferably.

Your local mall will have plenty of decorating items for the kitchen. Get yourself a large fruit bowl in a unique shape. Your tissue holders come in plenty of attractive designs. Your bathroom mirror needs a replacement? When you are going with the floral theme you know what to pick.  Petal shaped edges for the bowl and the mirror, and flowery prints on the tissue box. A cute finishing for this décor would be a palm tree or pineapple shaped candle holder.

Beachfront homes

Pick an arm chair in the shape of a sea shell. It’s the perfect one for a beachfront home. Yes, Dubai has plenty of beachfront properties from Umm Suqeim to Palm Jumeirah.  When you are decorating these homes they need to blend with the view from the property. If you are surrounded by blue green water all around, your furnishing should complement the colors of nature. Go with teal but with prints that can be floral, on trend. This will give a contemporary and elegant look to your décor.

Luxury properties

You may choose, gold and red for the desert home that gives a look worthy of a king. For a luxury villa, right in the most sought after areas such as Arabian Ranches, Emirates Hills and Dubai Sports City, a view to sunrise or sunset will be augmented by the rich colors of the home when light falls in the early hours or in twilight. Add a little glitter with a golden colored statue or bronze candle holders. A gold dusted mirror frame in the living area with mustard colored suede seating will give elegance a whole new meaning.

Gray wall

For area rugs and carpets, skip the same old square or rectangular shape and get the curvy in. Use pastels to give that soft, adorable look. Ditto for drop lights and lamp shades.

To paint your home, go easy on the reds and blues. Sunshine yellow or a sober dark gray will bring in more character to the walls. Always mix up your wall colors to complement the décor. The kitchens and bathrooms can hardly be ignored. When you choose your cabinetry and the tiles, ensure they are flowing with the overall theme of the house. Happy decorating!
