4 Most Popular Parks in Dubai

You may be surprised to hear this but the most refreshing, green looking parks are nested in Dubai. When there is little to do and you want to unwind on a lazy weekend with the kids, the parks are the best places to be. Although theme parks create plenty of excitement, the quiet and calm of natural settings are irreplaceable.

We took a look at some popular parks in Dubai and explored the potential of spending a weekend day there.Note, winter weekends are preferable as the weather is cooler to be outdoors in Dubai although most parks in the city offer temperature controlled indoor facilities and entertainments as well.

Safa Park

Safa Park is covered with lush green lawns, is located almost in the center of the city and is a short driving distance from Burj Khalifa, the Emirates Towers and Dubai World Trade Centre. The park is lined with skyscrapers all around. Three lakes, a small forest, a hill offering panoramic views of the park, 200+ species of birds, and nearly 17,000 diverse trees and bushes make up this stunning park. A waterfall flows out of the hill and into the largest lake which contains a fountain and touring boats. There are four entrances to the park and is considered Dubai’s largest and most popular park where families go for picnics and use permanent barbeques set up around the edge of the park. Children have numerous playgrounds to play here and couples come to enjoy a stroll or boat ride on the lake. People just unwind here reading books in gardens, ride bikes in the amusement park and jog around the track.

Creek Park

Creek Park, true to its name, is right on the edge of Dubai Creek catching the attention of the city dwellers, tourists and visitors. With a vast lawn area and botanical gardens, it is also the second largest park in Dubai. In spite of being in the heart of a bustling city, one can enjoy the lush greenery and picturesque views of the creek. With paved walkways and cycling track, you can take a stroll or rent a bike to enjoy the views along the way. With barbeque spots all around, this park is popular with picnickers. Mini golf, go-kart track and playgrounds designed to keep children engaged makes it a perfect family outing area. Dubai Dolphinarium and Children’s City just adds to the excitement even more. Catering to a wide segment of society and with accessibility features, this park is a welcome treat for anyone who enjoys a whiff of fresh air.

Zabeel Park

Zabeel Park is located in the center of the city near Al Jafiliya Metro station and is one of the largest parks in Dubai and earliest technology-driven parks in the Gulf. Equivalent in size to 45 football fields, this tranquil spot is popular for a children’s amusement complex and expansive ‘edutainment’ center. Zabeel Park is home to the city's newest attraction, the Dubai Frame, from where visitors can take in incredible views of both old and new Dubai. There is live music, barbeque and picnic areas, restaurants and boat rides in the park. Dubai Garden Glow and the weekly Ripe Market - that provides with an alfresco market experience during the cooler months, are key attractions of the park. All-year-round facilities such as the mega-bowl, galleries and sculptures are enjoyable experiences. Apart from a pedestrian path, jogging track and fitness center, a sports buff can enjoy mini-golf, cricket, skating, skateboarding and the BMX track.

Al Sufouh Park

Located near Acacia Avenues, a residential neighborhood, Al Sufouh Park lies near the intersection of Hessa Street and Al Sufouh Road. Moderately sized, this park is aptly sized for fun activities at the park, for children as well as adults. It consists of a football pitch, a basketball court, a padded jogging track and resistance-based training equipments. They are conveniently placed next to the children's play area. The quietness of a weekday makes it perfect for a good work out. Visitors are allowed to bring prepared food and have picnics on the well-maintained lawns, provided they leave no garbage behind. Barbequing is not allowed at this park though. Generally, residents from nearby areas frequent this park.
